October 29 2018 - Georgetown, Guyana - The Noble Tom Madden drillship arrived offshore Guyana for exploration drilling in the Stabroek Block, contracted for two firm wells, plus three optional.
The Noble Tom Madden drillship arrived offshore Guyana on 26 October, on contract with ExxonMobil to continue exploration of the 6.6 million acre Stabroek Block. It joins the Noble Bob Douglas, now development drilling in the Liza field, and Stena Carron, drilling exploration wells.
The 752 ft vessel is planned to begin drilling the Pluma 1 prospect. It is understood the contract for the rig includes two firm wells plus three optional ones.
Exxon continues to invest in discovering the potential of the Guyana basin, where estimated recoverable oil reserves stand at more than 4 billion oil-equivalent barrels. Present plans are that by 2025 there will be an estimated five floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels producing more than 750,000 barrels per day.
The first FPSO is scheduled to arrive late 2019 with first oil from the Liza field planned early 2020.
