EAGE - European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers

The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) is a global professional, not-for-profit association for geoscientists and engineers with approximately 19,000 members worldwide. It provides a global network of commercial and academic professionals to all members. The association is truly multi-disciplinary and international in form and pursuits.


All members of EAGE are professionally involved in (or studying) geophysics, petroleum exploration, geology, reservoir engineering, mining and mineral exploration, civil engineering, tunneling and environmental matters. 

IADC - International Association of Drilling Contractors

Since 1940, the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) has represented the worldwide oil and gas drilling industry, in particular drilling contractors. IADC’s vision is for the drilling industry to be recognized for its vital role in enabling the global economy and its high standards of safety, environmental stewardship and operational efficiency.

The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) is established across the world as the leading trade association for all those involved in the lifting industry. SPWLA - Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts 

The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) is dedicated to the advancement of the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation, through well logging and other formation evaluation techniques, and to the application of these techniques to the exploitation of gas, oil and other minerals.

Access to OnePetro is available to the general public and its technical content can be obtained online through individual purchase or subscription.

PetroWiki

PetroWiki was developed by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) as a vehicle for knowledge capture and sharing. The initial content for PetroWiki was SPE’s seven-volume Petroleum Engineering Handbook (PEH), published in 2006-2007. The full text of the PEH is now online through PetroWiki as a resource for the entire exploration and production industry.

CGX Energy

CGX Energy Inc. is a Canadian-based oil and gas company focused on exploring for oil in the Guyana Suriname basin. The Company’s licences in Guyana cover 3.3 million acres gross, 3.0 million acres net. 

In 1996, the founders of CGX, John Cullen and Edris Kamal Dookie, began negotiations with the Government of Guyana to acquire an offshore concession to explore for oil. 

Chevron 

Chevron Corporation is an American multinational energy company predominantly working in oil and gas, headquartered in San Ramon California. Chevron is vertically integrated, including; exploration, development, production, refining, marketing, transport,  chemicals manufacturing and sales, and power generation.

Chevron traces its history to the 1870s as a small California company acquired by Standard, and merged into Standard Oil of California (SOCA). When SOCA was broken up, Chevron grew rapidly, now the second largest American energy company (ExxonMobil 1st). In October 2023 Chevron acquired Hess, giving it a position in Guyana. 

CNOOC

China National Offshore Oil Corporation, the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China. Headquartered in Beijing, CNOOC was founded in 1982. After more than 30 years of reform and development, it has become an international energy company with prominent core business, a complete industrial chain and business spreading across 40 countries and regions.

 

The five main business segments of the Company are oil & gas exploration and development, engineering and technical services, refining and marketing, natural gas and power generation and financial services.

ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil is the largest non-government owned company in the energy industry and produces about 3% of the world's oil and about 2% of the world's energy. These divisions are grouped into three categories for reference purposes, though the company also has several ancillary divisions, such as Coal & Minerals, which are stand alone. 

HESS

Hess Corporation was acquired by Chevron in October 2023, bringing in a new major global energy company to Guyana. The Hess interest in the ExxonMobil operated Stabroek block was a major driver of the acquisition by Chevron.  

Hess provides Chevron with an industry-leading position in a key U.S. shale play -- the Bakken in North Dakota, as well as significant deepwater Gulf of Mexico production, and natural gas production and supply to Peninsular Malaysia and Thailand. 

Repsol 

Repsol is a Spanish multi-energy company operating around the globe. Their activities range from oil and gas exploration and production to refining as well as selling derived products and providing services for everyday life, such as natural gas and electricity.

Repsol is one of the largest energy companies present in the entire value chain: working in exploration and production, transformation, development and commercialization of efficient, sustainable and competitive energy.

TOTAL

Total is a French multinational integrated oil and gas company founded in 1924 and one of the leading oil companies in the world.

 

Its businesses covers the entire oil and gas chain, from crude oil and natural gas exploration and production to power generation, transportation, refining, petroleum product marketing, and international crude oil and product trading. Total is also a large scale chemicals manufacturer.  

Tullow Oil

Tullow Oil is a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The Group has interests in over 80 exploration and production licences across 16 countries which are managed as three Business Delivery Teams: West Africa, East Africa and New Ventures.

Founded as Edison Chouest Boat Rental in Galliano, Louisiana, in 1960, the Edison Chouest Offshore companies (ECO) are recognized today as the most diverse and dynamic marine transportation solution providers in the world. ECO operates a growing fleet of well over 200 vessels, ranging from 87 to over 525 feet in length, serving an expanding global customer base.

Staying on the forefront of new technologies is an integral part of the Chouest business plan, as evidenced by recent advances in the areas of subsea support, integrated bridge systems and global communications.

GAC was founded in 1956 when Swedish entrepreneur Bengt Lindwall signed an agreement with two Kuwaiti businessmen to form Gulf Agency Company to provide professional ship agency services in the country. Over the next decade, more offices opened throughout the Middle East as oil, shipping and logistics business there grew.

In the 1970s, more GAC companies were established in the Eastern Mediterranean and Nigeria, and in Asia Pacific and the Indian Subcontinent in the ‘80s. Further expansion throughout Africa, Europe, the Americas, Central Asia and Australia followed in the 1990s and 2000s. Today, GAC is now a global group providing a wide range of integrated shipping, logistics and marine services.

In late 2016, four companies with highly complementary skills and experience came together -- Muneshwers Limited, Pacific Rim Constructors, LED Offshore, and TOTALTEC Oilfield Services – and formed Guyana Shore Base Incorporated (GYSBI), a majority-Guyanese company. Together, they have over 100 years of shore base construction and management experience, many of which came from the oil and gas industry. 

 

In early 2017, GYSBI won the ExxonMobil shore base services tender, confirmation of partner company capabilities and their execution plan. The goal was simple; create a world-class shore base to support the future drilling and production activity offshore Guyana. 

Founded in 1919, Halliburton is one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the energy industry, with 60,000 employees, representing 140 nationalities in more than 80 countries.

 

Halliburton works throughout the lifecycle of the reservoir – from locating hydrocarbons and managing geological data, to drilling and formation evaluation, well construction and completion, and optimizing production throughout the life of the asset.

Jaguar Oilfield Services Guyana, Inc. was formed in 2017 by companies who recognized that their experience in providing quality industrial products, with strong after sales service in country, was exactly what the emerging oilfield needed.

This new Guyanese company builds on a foundation of serving local industries with a combined experience of almost 100 years. Many of the products and services now offered by Jaguar come directly from other Guyanese industries to oil and gas, for example slinging and rigging. Others come from quality international suppliers who also offer products used by the oilfield, for example instrumentation, not yet imported into Guyana.

Garry B. Palmer (1965 – 2005), former First Deck Officer and Pilot of the Transport and Harbours Department, and Second Deck Officer Orin Matthis, founded MatPal Maritime Institute (MPMI), on 5th October 1999.  Since then, MPMI has been addressing the training needs of Guyanese seafarers and other stakeholders.

From its inception to present, the Institute has successfully trained numerous persons within the maritime industry of Guyana and around the Caribbean and has earned a reputation for excellence in the delivery of a vital service.  On average, in excess of one hundred (100) participants spanning both the deck and engine room departments are certified every year.

Noble owns and operates one of the most modern, versatile and technically advanced fleets in the offshore drilling industry. Its rigs are drilling many of the wells for ExxonMobil offshore Guyana.

 

The company is focused largely on ultra-deepwater and high-specification jackup drilling opportunities in both established and emerging regions worldwide.

SAIPEM is one of the global leaders in drilling services, as well as in the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of pipelines and complex projects, onshore and offshore, in the oil & gas market. 

 

SAIPEM has distinctive competences in operations in harsh environments, remote areas and deepwater. SAIPEM provides a full range of services with contracts on an “EPC” and/or “EPCI” (“turnkey”) basis.

SBM Offshore provides floating production solutions to the offshore energy industry, over the full product life-cycle. The company is market leading in leased floating production systems with multiple units currently in operation and has unrivaled operational experience in this field.

 

SBM's main activities are the design, supply, installation, operation and the life extension of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. These are either owned and operated by SBM Offshore and leased to its clients or supplied on a turnkey sale basis.
